Our Story
KEA Music Academy began with one simple observation.
Over the years, our founder met many students who had the passion to learn but struggled with weak foundations and habits that were difficult to change. Too often, they had been taught to memorise what to play rather than understand why they were playing it.
He believed there had to be a better way.
That belief became KEA Music Academy—a place where students build strong foundations, develop proper techniques from the very beginning, and learn with understanding instead of memorisation. Because when students understand music, they gain the confidence to think independently, express themselves, and enjoy learning for life.
We're here to change the way music is taught and learned in Singapore—making a meaningful difference in music learning.
Principal & Founder
Mr Shawn Ong founded KEA Music Academy to transform the way people learn music. He helps students break free from “rote learning” — guiding those who feel stuck or struggle to progress. Through personalised lessons that emphasise true understanding over rote memorization, Mr Ong continues to inspire confidence, growth, and a lifelong love of music in both his students and teaching team.
Born from the trusted legacy of Shawn Ong Piano Studio, KEA Music Academy carries forward over a decade of meaningful music education that has guided more than 600 students.
